Have you lost your business mojo?
May 29th, 2009 by Kendall
Have you ever had the feeling that you’ve “lost your mojo?” That happened for one of my best clients these past few weeks. Every time I talked with her she was lamenting how well everyone else was doing compared to her. She felt disempowered, as if no one wanted what she had to offer. Worse, she felt like a failure in her business and was starting to wonder if she was going to have to go back to her old line of work.
Ladies, I’m sharing this with you because I think it’s easy to look at the success of others and use it as a weapon of self-sabotage against ourselves. Women compare, judge and criticize, only the recipient of that comparison, judgment and criticism is often themselves. I’ve done it too, and believe me, I totally get how nasty it feels!
The key is to notice when you’re comparing, then ask yourself, “What is it about the other person (either about their success or about what they’re doing) that’s a mirror for me?”
I know when I ask that question I immediately see where I’m not stepping up into my power in some way. Feeling jealous over someone else’s success just means you’re busting YOURSELF where you’ve been playing small. Feeling left behind or that what you’re doing is never enough is mirroring where you feel lack, scarcity or limitation. Feeling like the good stuff never happens for you fuels playing helpless and being in the role of victim.
There’s no shame in feeling these feelings. But I will share with you that if you want your business to double or triple, it’s time to let go of old feelings that probably started when you were a kid and have stuck with you like a barnacle.
You MUST let go to grow and that means more than just hiring an assistant to answer your email for you. You must let go of old feelings and the thoughts that spur them on, in favor of emotions that make you feel good.
So, back to my client. After loving, kick in the pants coaching she saw that she was letting old baggage run her emotions. She decided she had a choice about how she was feeling. Empowered, she begin thinking new thoughts and feeling new emotions. And, like magic, within 48 hours she had brought in over $2,500.00 in new business, with more rolling in every day. In fact, she’s about to celebrate having one of her highest months ever!
My advice to her is the same I’ll share with you: the biggest lesson in self-growth you’ll ever experience is running — and SUCCEEDING — in business. So, how are you growing YOU today?

Hey Kendall,
Super article Kendall. We all need a good kick in the pants every so often to propel us to the next level. Otherwise, Mr. or Ms. Fear drops by and starts celebrating our demise!

That is absolutely true, and I was just thinking along those lines yesterday… not only that, you have to be PRO-ACTIVE about it. I’ve found that I can’t ignore what’s going on; I have to be aware, see the patterns, and actively say, “This stops here and now.”
What I think a lot of people don’t teach about mindset is that it involves clearing out the old just as much, if not more, as bringing in the new.
