When it comes to family you inherited more than just your looks, height or hair color. You also inherited beliefs and values about money that have been handed down for generations.

Which is great if your family’s money history was free from turmoil, secrecy or difficulties.

Unfortunately, what’s more likely true is that the money habits and mindset you inherited are keeping you from realizing your value and preventing you from charging what you’re worth, standing in your power with clear money boundaries, raising your fees and more.

Good news is, the opportunity to heal your money legacy is right at your fingertips. And, once you do so, you’ll see an immediate surge of new opportunities, growth and cash flow in your business.

To help you re-invent your money legacy, here are 3 money and soul tips I’ve personally used to help me go from frustrating 5-figures to now running a multi-million dollar coaching business.

Tip #1 Give Yourself Permission To Make More Than Anyone In Your Family

Even though it’s natural for our parents to want us to do well, it’s common to have received unspoken messages that it’s somehow “not okay” to make more than them.

I recommend identifying the one person in your immediate family you’re most concerned about regarding this issue. You can hold your own private “blessing ceremony” where you ask for their blessing to exceed your past income. Allow yourself to let go of past notions of unworthiness so that you can let in feelings of deserving grace and good fortune.

Tip #2 Girls Want More Than Just To Have Fun — They Want To Be Paid What They’re Worth!

Society often has lower expectations of success for women versus men. When I was growing up, my dad didn’t expect me to be successful, or to even have a career! He would have been perfectly happy if I were only a wife and mom. Luckily, my mom was very successful as a solo-preneur, providing me with an example for success that I could model.

Choose someone you can model who is successful and who embodies the values and lifestyle you admire and appreciate. Ask yourself, “What does SHE believe about money and creating success?” so you can adopt some of those winning beliefs for yourself.

Tip #3 Accept Your Role As A Leader And Healer Of Money

This is a little woo-woo so stick with me here…If you have the desire to make more than spirit has singled you out as the leader and healer of money within your family legacy. Think of it this way: there is NO way you would have the desire to make more if you weren’t also meant to step into this special, leadership role.

Your Business — And The Money You Create — Is Your New Family Legacy And A Vital Piece Of Your Spiritual Path

Every generation is meant to get stronger, healthier, smarter and yes, more successful. So, give yourself permission to be paid what you’re worth. Your family’s history is theirs, not yours. It’s time you write your OWN history so you can move past where you are now and into a new level of income.

NOTE: If you’re an intuitive and creative entrepreneur who’s ready to transform her money story so you can help others do the same then I recommend checking out the upcoming Certified Money, Marketing and Soul Coach training program. It’s ONLY being offered one time in 2010 and there are LESS than *15* spots available. Click here for details before Midnight, Jan 15 and get the Early Bird $1,000 savings.

  1. Great article! I’ve been working on my families’ beliefs around struggle, which goes hand in hand with money issues. The more I heal old beliefs and let go of the family story, the more opportunities show up and I am open to receiving them. Thanks for the tips- I can’t waithearses what I’ll learn at the cmms training!

  2. Thanks, Kendall-
It’s amazing what we “inherit” from our families.
What I think is interesting is so many people don’t realize that sometimes their beliefs are not actually their own. They will see that “that fear is my mother’s, i’m not actually afraid of that”.

Great to get clear on what’s “ours” and what we are holding for our families. Then can begin to release, neutralize and redirect.

Same applies around beliefs with bodies, weight, eating- what you believe will drive your actions, so good to sort all this out. Usually helps to get support for true clarity!

    IN love and service,
    Lisa

  3. This is awesome! Reading #1 made me realize something I still deal with. My mom is 85; I’ll be 50 next week. But when I see her, she will inevitably ask me if something I’m wearing or something I have is new, in a way that makes me feel like I shouldn’t have anything new, even though I make more money than she or my dad ever did! I never put the pieces of all of this together until reading your article.

Lisa is right… the beliefs we learned growing up in all areas can affect us for years and year.

Thanks for putting all of this in a new light.
